Best Recent Oak Lawn Real Estate Posts

You've already been introduced to the new Oak Lawn real estate website.  This is the #1 local site for Oak Lawn homes and other real estate.  Because of the new website created, the site might have lost its first page Google position because of the new pages created and Google having to find and index them. Once that is accomplished I think we'll be back at the top again.

In an effort to kick-start indexing of the new site I'm listing some of the most interesting blog posts recently transferred over:
Each of the above links offer even more ways to see searches already done for you or the ability to create a custom search for Oak Lawn or any of the towns our large MLS services.  The pre-made searches will constantly update themselves so you'll always have the latest listings.

We created this new website for it's ease of use and the ability on our end to create these kinds of searches so you can quickly check the current market in types of listings, price ranges and more.  We will be adding more custom searches to the website so come back and see what's new!

A New Look For Oak Lawn Real Estate Website

Oak Lawn Homes & Real Estate website

I've been making a lot of website changes lately, and I picked the wrong time to do it.  Oak Lawn real estate has been hot lately and I chose the busiest time of the year to make changes to multiple websites, as you can see in this blog.  I still have one more to go.

This is my first real estate website I ever created.  At the time, I was living in Oak Lawn and created a website that covered this popular village (has the most sales of the main southwest suburban area I work in) and the surrounding towns.

Because it was such a niche site it was #1 in Google if you did a search for Oak Lawn real estate.  Things have changed with recent Google algorithm changes and the big portals that have deep pockets, and although the site is still on the first page it has lost it's number one position.  But it is still the 1st local website that shows up in a normal Google search in the regular (not local) results.  I get a lot of business from it.

Why did I make all these changes?  I believe in creating what is called hyper-local sites for my main areas.  I think with the Google changes and competing against these big portals, it is more important for us "little guys" to try to beat them in local organic searches.

I feel I'm providing the best information for Oak Lawn real estate than those big real estate websites can.  I know the village first-hand as I grew up there and lived there as an adult for many years.  Both my team-mates, my husband and daughter, also lived in the village for many years.

Inclement Weather in the Southwest Chicago Suburbs

orland park weather and cloudy skies
There was tornado damage in a farther south Chicago suburb of Peotone last night. Several homes were damaged and there were also some injuries. Peotone is considered a more rural area and I had relatives that had a farm there, but it's a little too far out of my selling area.

I slept very well in my Orland Park home last night and was surprised to speak to a client who told me he didn't get any sleep last night because of the storm. I remember having trouble sleeping in my prior Oak Lawn home that I just closed on last week.

It was originally a ranch style home that had a 2nd story addition put on, turning it
into more of a cape cod or 1 1/2 story home. For some reason, I could always hear the wind and rain more in my Oak Lawn home than I can in my current split level home. Maybe it's because my 2nd story was so much higher than in my current home.

I don't know the reason, but I'm glad to have "weathered" my first bad storm in my new Orland Park home. I hope the new owners of my Oak Lawn home slept well last night.

New Blogger Templates

Woo hoo! Almost every time I create a post in Blogger, I check to see if there have been any new templates added. Finally, there is a great choice of new looks to choose from. In fact, there were a few I wanted to try, and with the template I chose there are many background photos and color choices to choose from. This is going to be fun.

I have many different websites and blogs. First off, here is my Orland Park homes page from my main website. I like having changes and although I've done a few things with that site, I have some future changes planned. My main Chicago suburbs blog is on this site and I love how the header changes with each refresh or page change.

I also have a hyper-local niche site for Oak Lawn homes and an Oak Lawn news blog for the village and surrounding towns. This website and blog comprises the main village plus surrounding towns of Alsip, Bridgeview, Burbank, Chicago Ridge, Evergreen Park, Hickory Hills, Hometown, Justice and Worth.

I also have a standalone blog that I've changed the template on many times for Southwest Suburban Real Estatesouthwest suburbs real estate. This is my favorite template by far so I don't think I'll be changing it anytime soon.

I have a couple other blogs but they are geared more towards networking with other real estate agents throughout the nation. As you can see, I offer a lot of local information for buyers and/or sellers of real estate in the southwest Chicago suburbs. And on this blog, I can now have fun presenting that information with all of the new templates I can switch to.

Oak Lawn Homes

LAS VEGAS - MARCH 21: Prospective buyers look...Image by Getty Images via Daylife

As of today, there are 292 Oak Lawn homes for sale. That's the first drop we've seen in a while. That could mean that there are more buyers buying and it could also mean that some sellers have given up and taken their homes off the market. Either way, the inventory has gone down a little bit.

There are still foreclosures and short sales at good prices (starting as low as $119,900, which is higher than some of the prior foreclosure homes that were available before). I've shown many of the foreclosures and short sales and some of them are a real mess, but others have been great values.

If you haven't purchased yet there is still a chance for you to find a great deal. If you're a first-time buyer you can also get up to an $8,000 tax credit but you must purchase before December 1, 2009.

If you're interested in purchasing Oak Lawn real estate, click the link and fill out the Automated Home Finder Form and you'll receive listings sent directly to your e-mail.
